AI is a tool – not the solution

Artificial Intelligence has come a long way in the past few years, and it’s no surprise that it’s quickly found its way into all sorts of industries, including web design and development. At Mity Digital, we love a good bit of tech – and yes, that includes AI. But let’s be clear: AI is a tool, not the solution.

AI is not a design tool

One of the biggest myths floating around is that AI can “design” a website. Sure, AI can generate mockups, suggest layouts, or even spit out a colour palette. But design isn’t about ticking boxes or rearranging stock elements. Good design is intentional. It’s about understanding your audience, your goals, and the story your brand wants to tell. That’s something AI simply can’t grasp.

Great design comes from experience, curiosity, and asking the right questions. It comes from pushing boundaries and knowing when to hold back. AI might be able to give you something that looks like a website, but without a human touch, it’s likely to miss the mark entirely.

AI can help developers – but it shouldn’t replace them

On the development side, AI has become a very handy assistant. It can suggest code snippets, help debug, or offer ideas for how to structure a function. But just like autocomplete in your email, it only gets you part of the way there.

When it comes to real-world development – especially the sort we do at Mity – the work isn’t just about writing code. It’s about understanding business logic, integrating with third-party systems, crafting content workflows, and making sure the end result is something you and your team can use confidently. AI can help along the way, but it doesn’t replace the thinking, planning, or experience that go into building something robust and scalable.

Collaboration is what makes projects great

One of the most valuable parts of our process is collaboration. We don’t just take a brief and build – we talk, challenge, guide, and refine. We work closely with our clients to understand what they actually need, not just what they think they want. This kind of back-and-forth, of pushing and evolving ideas, is where great results are born.

And this is where AI falls flat. There’s no conversation. No challenge. No “what if we tried this instead?” moment. With AI, you get output. With us, you get a partner.

So, is AI bad?

Not at all. We use it ourselves – as a time-saver, a brainstorm buddy, or to help simplify repetitive tasks. It’s a great tool in the toolbox. But like any tool, it’s only as good as the person using it.

When it comes to your brand, your business, and your goals, don’t settle for something that looks okay on the surface but lacks the substance underneath. At Mity Digital, we bring our thinking, our creativity, and our collaboration to every project – because we believe that’s what delivers real results.

Now I know what you’re wondering… Did I use AI to help write this blog post? You bet ya I did, but, the keyword here is help. I knew what I wanted to talk about and specific points I wanted to make. My prompt was detailed and ChatGPT took that a produced most of what you just read, but I also went though and tweaked it to make it sound more like me.

Did ChatGPT take my job? No. Did it help me do my job? Absolutely!
