Mity Digital wins "Best Overall" award at Joomla Day Australia 2019
Mity Digital were one of the proud sponsors of Joomla! Day Australia 2019, held in Brisbane on the 2nd to 4th August 2019. It was great to meet and connect with other like-minded Joomla web nuts, and, let’s face it, also great to escape the Melbourne cold weather and wear some shorts and short sleeves in the middle of winter.
Our two directors, Marty and Michael, got involved with presentations too, sharing our passion and expert knowledge with the Joomla community.
Marty's first session helped demonstrate how Tiny (and their awesome TinyMCE 5 editor) helps deliver the best content authoring experience, and also ran an interactive workshop on how to build your own plugins for TinyMCE 5 and fit them in to Joomla. Tiny have delivered a fantastic editing platform, and Marty loves working with it to help improve the experience of our end users by optimising features and workflows to keep authors on track.
Michael, with his incredible wealthy of knowledge as a Joomla Certified Administrator and long-time Joomla web developer, participated in the Town Hall Q&A session, including helping attendees gain a better understanding of how to approach hand-made responsive design in Joomla templates.
We have worked with GBA Projects for many years across a number of projects and are really proud of the work we put in to their 2019 site helping launch their new brand in Adelaide and Sydney. So proud in fact that we entered it in the Joomla Site Awards, held for the Joomla Day Australia conference.
And, we won "Best Overall" for our work on the GBA Projects website, and a finalist for the "Most Attractive" category.
This was a great website to work on - not only with GBA Projects’ new brand elements, but also because of what happens under-the-hood: parts of the GBA Projects website appear different based on what state you’re in. Pretty neat, hey? The main phone number, featured blog posts and imagery changes based on what state you’re in, and this helps improve the overall usability of the site and help visitors effortlessly find what they’re looking for.
We’re so thrilled to have this award now sitting in our office, and if you haven’t done so, go and check out the GBA Projects website - and let us know what you think! But for now, the long sleeves and jackets are back on, and Marty and Michael are back in Melbourne, but of course, not before Marty got a quick detour to Warner Bros. Movie World... but that’s another story.
